ANNOUNCEMENT! 2026 COMPETITION FOR SCIENCE AWARDS AND STATE SCIENTIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, pursuant to Article 31 of the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Science and Technology Policy” and subparagraph 148) of paragraph 15 of Resolution No. 580 of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 19, 2022, announces a competition for science awards and state scientific scholarships (hereinafter referred to as the Competition).

The science awards and state scientific scholarships were approved by Order No. 389 of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 4, 2023:

• one K.I. Satpayev Award for the best scientific research in the field of natural sciences;

• one Ch.Ch. Valikhanov Award for the best scientific research in the field of humanities;

• one Y. Altynsarin Award for the best scientific research and work in the field of pedagogy;

• one Kultegin Award for outstanding achievements in the field of Turkology;

• one D.A. Kunayev Award for young scientists for the best work in the field of natural sciences;

• one M.O. Auezov Award for young scientists for the best work in the field of humanities;

• 75 state scientific scholarships, including 50 state scientific scholarships for talented young scientists aged up to and including 44 years.

The Competition is conducted in accordance with the applicable legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including:

Applications and works for science awards and state scientific scholarships are accepted electronically through the “Single Window of the National Innovation System” information system.

In accordance with the applicable legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, works submitted for science awards and state scientific scholarships are accepted by the Non-Profit Joint Stock Company “National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan” under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan within 30 (thirty) calendar days from the date of publication of this announcement.

LIST OF DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FROM APPLICANTS FOR SCIENCE AWARDS:

1. a scientific work in the form of monographs, chapters in monographs, articles, reviews, patents, or copyright certificates (no more than five);

2. a description of the work outlining its content, the relevance and novelty of the research, the main scientific results, their significance and potential for further use (not exceeding half a printed sheet);

3. an extract from the minutes of a meeting of the advisory body of the organization submitting the work;

4. a certificate from the main place of employment of the candidate for the award;

5. a brief description of the candidate’s scientific activities indicating their creative contribution (for collective works);

6. a certificate from the organization submitting the work confirming that the work entered in the Competition has not previously received an award financed from the national budget;

7. a copy of the implementation certificate (if available);

8. notification of an active twenty-digit card account.

If an applicant for an award has left their employment, the documents specified in subparagraphs 4), 5) and 6) above shall be provided by their most recent place of employment.

LIST OF DOCUMENTS REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITION FOR STATE SCIENTIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS:

1. a substantiated application (recommendation) from the organization’s advisory body;

2. a certificate from the main place of employment of the candidate for a state scientific scholarship;

3. a list of the candidate’s scientific publications for the last five years, excluding the year in which the Competition is announced, together with copies of the most significant publications (no more than five);

4. a copy of the implementation certificate (if available);

5. documents confirming leadership of scientific projects and programmes (if available; not required for applicants for state scholarships for talented young scientists);

6. documents confirming the training of personnel who have been awarded a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or a professional doctorate in the Republic of Kazakhstan (if available; not required for applicants for state scientific scholarships for talented young scientists);

7. documents confirming international cooperation (if available; applicable only to applicants for state scientific scholarships for talented young scientists);

8. notification of an active twenty-digit card account.

For a monograph published by a domestic publishing house, an abstract of up to two pages of printed text, a copy of the title page, publication details, and at least two reviews must be submitted.

For a monograph published by a foreign publishing house, an abstract of up to two pages of printed text, a copy of the title page, and publication details must be submitted.

In monographs, chapters of monographs, articles, and reviews, applicants must indicate a Kazakhstani organization or the Republic of Kazakhstan as their affiliation.

A brief description and the contents of the monograph, including a monograph in which a chapter has been published, must be posted on an official website, together with accessible information on where the publication can be purchased or read.
