KazNARU STUDENTS PURSUE DOUBLE-DEGREE STUDIES IN MALAYSIA

Third-year students enrolled in the 6B05102 – Biotechnology educational programme at Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) have begun their studies at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) in Malaysia under a double-degree programme.

As part of this international educational programme, students will spend one academic year at the partner university, gaining exposure to the latest scientific advances, innovative technologies, and international practices in biotechnology. Studying abroad will also enable them to improve their foreign language proficiency, strengthen their research skills, and gain valuable experience in intercultural communication.

The double-degree programme follows a “3+1” model, under which students complete three years of study at KazNARU and one year at UMPSA. Upon successfully fulfilling all academic requirements specified in the respective curricula, students will be eligible to receive degrees from both universities.

Currently, 12 UMPSA students are studying at KazNARU under the same programme in the field of Industrial Biotechnology. They combine theoretical learning with practical training using the university’s research and laboratory facilities, further developing their professional competencies.

Bilateral academic exchange between KazNARU and UMPSA has been ongoing since 2023. In 2024, the first graduates of the joint programme successfully completed their studies and received degrees from both universities. Today, this partnership continues to expand opportunities for international student mobility and the development of joint educational initiatives.

The implementation of this programme strengthens KazNARU’s international partnerships, enhances its presence in the global higher education landscape, and contributes to the training of competitive biotechnology professionals equipped with advanced knowledge, practical skills, and international experience.
