READING MARATHON “A READING NATION IS A PROGRESSIVE NATION” TO BEGIN AT KazNARU
The opening of the reading marathon “A Reading Nation is a Progressive Nation” will take place on 25 September 2026 at 15:00 in the foyer of the Faculty of Water Resources and IT Technologies.
The marathon aims to promote a culture of reading, encourage interest in national and world literature, increase reading engagement within the university community, and make regular reading a lasting habit.
Organizer: Scientific Library of Қазақ ұлттық аграрлық зерттеу университеті.
Who can participate?
The marathon is open to:
- academic and teaching staff;
- doctoral students;
- master’s students;
- undergraduate students;
- university staff.
Participation Requirements
Participants select and read a book from the University Library or electronic library collection.
After completing a book, participants submit a written review. Text copied from the Internet or written by another person is not permitted.
Participants’ results will be recorded monthly, and rankings will be compiled based on the points earned. At the end of the marathon, the results from all months will be combined to determine the final ranking.
A special commission will review the results and determine the top participants.
Scoring System
The maximum score for each participant is 100 points.
Points are awarded as follows:
- reading 1–4 books – 5 points;
- reading 5–7 books – 10 points;
- reading 8–10 books – 20 points;
- reading 15 or more books – 30 points;
- submitting a written review of a book – 10 points;
- preparing a video review or video presentation of a book – 10 points;
- reading scientific literature or a monograph and submitting a review – 10 points;
- participating in marathon-related events – 5 points.
Awards
Participants with the highest scores will be identified each month, and monthly rankings will be published.
At the end of the marathon, participants with outstanding results will receive diplomas, letters of appreciation, and valuable prizes.
The best readers will be recognized in the following categories:
“Reading Teacher”
“Reading Doctoral Student”
“Reading Master’s Student”
“Reading Student”
“Reading University Staff Member”
In the event of equal scores, the number of books read and the participant’s library activity will be taken into consideration.
Participants will also receive a specially selected reading list featuring works by Kazakhstani authors, world literature, contemporary works, and academic literature.
