Meeting on ESG Goals with University Representatives Held in Almaty

On April 8, 2026, a working meeting with representatives of higher education institutions in Almaty was held at the venue of JSC “Almaty City Development Center” (ACDC), focusing on achieving ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) goals.
The event brought together representatives from more than 10 universities in the city, along with experts from the Center. The meeting was held in an open dialogue format aimed at strengthening collaboration between universities and developing joint approaches to sustainable development.
 
Among the invited experts:
  1. Aizhan Zhussupova — PhD, Associate Professor, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University;
  2. Alimshan Fayzullaev — PhD, Research Director of BCB (2025–2026 AY), Associate Professor at KIMEP;
  3. Gulshat Altaeva — representative of Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University;
  4. Gulziya — representative of Satbayev University;
  5. Dilyara Urmanova — Director of the Ban Ki-moon Institute for Sustainable Development;
  6. Zhannura Manapbayeva — Director of the SDG Integration Center at the International IT University;
  7. Zeynolla Saule Zhanatovna — representative of Kazakh-German University and Enactus Kazakhstan;
  8. Kulzhakhan Bakirova — Professor, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Geography, Abai KazNPU, member of the “Ayala” Eco Club;
  9. Maiya Suyunchaliyeva — Leading Specialist at the Institute of Green and Sustainable Development, KazNAIU;
  10. Aliya Tolegen — Lecturer, Design Department, T. Zhurgenov Kazakh National Academy of Arts;
  11. Tursyngul Gumarova — Professor, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Narxoz University.
During the meeting, participants discussed current university initiatives in sustainable development, identified key challenges in implementing ESG approaches, and exchanged practical experiences and ideas. 
Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation between universities and ACDC, as well as building a partnership ecosystem for implementing ESG projects in Almaty.
The informal format without formal presentations encouraged open and constructive discussion, enabling participants to develop practical recommendations and outline future collaboration. 
JSC “Almaty City Development Center” will continue to support expert dialogue and initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development and enhancing the role of higher education in advancing the ESG agenda.
