ISSUES OF THE STATE LANGUAGE
In order to implement Resolution No. 4/617 of the Akimat of Almaty dated November 23, 2023, "On the approval of the Action Plan for the implementation of the Concept for the Development of Language Policy in the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023–2029," the Department of Language Development and Onomastics of the Almaty City Akimat held a concluding event titled "Issues of the State Language."
The event took place on November 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the conference hall of the Kazakh National Women's Teacher Training University.
As part of the event, a presentation of the monograph "The Linguistic Situation in Almaty (Sociolinguistic Research and Monitoring)" was held. The monograph presented the results of a comprehensive analysis of the state of the functioning of the state language in the metropolis. It generated considerable interest among the participants, as it highlighted real linguistic processes occurring in the urban environment and proposed concrete measures for further development and support of the state language.
The event was attended by Gulnar Ruslanovna Duz-Ogly, a lecturer at the Department of General Education Disciplines, along with students from group LDO-24-16. For the students, the gathering provided a valuable experience: they became familiar with the findings of sociolinguistic research, listened to expert presentations, and gained insight into the practical aspects of language policy implementation in Kazakhstan.
The meeting served as an important educational platform where young people were able to broaden their horizons, deepen their respect for the state language, and better understand their role in its promotion. Participation in such events contributes to the development of an active civic position and the enhancement of students' linguistic and cultural awareness.
