KazNARU FRESHMEN KICK OFF THE SPORTS GAMES
KazNARU’s annual Freshmen Sports Games kicked off on September 22 at the university stadium under the theme “Asia’s Momentum: Youth. Sport. Future.”
The opening ceremony was led by Primkul Ibragimov, First Deputy to the Chairman of the Management Board – Rector of KazNARU. In his remarks, he highlighted how sport helps young people build resilience, teamwork and a strong sense of mutual support.
The students were also welcomed by Muratbek Kypshakbayev, an Asian judo champion, Olympian and International Master of Sport. Meruert Tuyakbayeva, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sport and Chief Referee, introduced the competition programme.
The ceremony also celebrated KazNARU students who recently earned top honours in Kazakh kuresi, Kazakhstan’s traditional wrestling.
Freshman teams from across the university will compete in volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis, chess, togyzkumalak and tug of war.
