KazNARU HOSTS OPEN DAY FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS
The Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU) hosted an Open Day for school students, providing them with an opportunity to explore the university’s academic programmes, research facilities and future career opportunities.
The university welcomed 18 students from Grades 10–11 of the Akhmet Baitursynov Secondary School in Saimasai village, Enbekshikazakh District, Almaty Region.
The event aimed to support students in making informed decisions about their future careers and to introduce them to KazNARU’s academic programmes, schools, research infrastructure and student life.
As part of the university tour, the students visited the Plant Biotechnology Center, the University Museum, the Scientific and Educational Innovative Center of Technology and Quality of Food Products, the Kazakh-Japanese Innovation Center, the International Centre for Vaccinology, and the International Research Center – Water Hub. These are among the university’s scientific and educational facilities.
During the tour, the students explored modern laboratories and research facilities and learned more about the educational process, academic programmes and promising career opportunities in the agricultural sector. They also had the opportunity to ask faculty members questions and receive professional guidance on choosing a future field of study.
The visit helped broaden the students’ understanding of agrarian education and encouraged their interest in pursuing careers related to agriculture, engineering, science and technology.
Grade 11 student Askar Asanuly shared that he is planning to pursue a career in agricultural engineering.
“Agriculture is developing rapidly today. I want to use land resources efficiently and make the most of their potential. I also want to demonstrate through my own work that it is possible to build a successful and sustainable source of income in agriculture. That is why I plan to study agricultural engineering, gain in-depth knowledge in this field and become a highly qualified professional in the future,” he said.
The teachers accompanying the students – Tolyq Baktybayeva, a Chemistry and Biology teacher; Ainur Mamyrbayeva, a Geography and Biology teacher; and Ulpan Altynbek, a Biology teacher – also shared their impressions of the visit.
“We were very impressed with the visit. We were particularly interested in the field of water resources management. I would recommend that school graduates explore the educational opportunities offered by the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University and consider these areas when choosing their future profession. The agricultural sector has great potential for the future,” said Ulpan Altynbek.
At the end of the event, the students received information materials about KazNARU’s academic programmes and took a group photo to commemorate their visit.
