Visit to the A. Kasteev State Museum of Arts
(Group LDO 24-11)
As part of the spiritual and moral education program, aimed at cultivating artistic taste, broadening cultural horizons, and fostering appreciation of national and world art, on February 22, 2025, the lecturer of the Department of General Education Disciplines, Dossimkankyzy Aziza, organized a visit to the A. Kasteev State Museum of Arts with students from group LDO 24-11.
The A. Kasteev State Museum is the largest art collection in Kazakhstan, showcasing works of Kazakh, Russian, Western European, and Eastern art. The excursion began with an introductory lecture, during which students learned about the biography of Abylkhan Kasteev — the founder of professional Kazakh painting — and his contribution to the development of the national school of fine arts.
The group then visited halls dedicated to Kazakh decorative and applied arts, 20th-century painting and graphics, as well as the hall of contemporary Kazakh art. Exhibits related to the history and culture of the Kazakh people, which combine artistic images with ethnographic materials, drew particular interest.
Students carefully examined paintings depicting landscapes, scenes of everyday life in Kazakh villages, and portraits of cultural and everyday figures. Some participants asked questions to the guide, noting the emotional depth and expressiveness of the works, and compared classical painting with contemporary experimental forms.
After the excursion, a discussion took place where students shared their impressions. Many noted that visiting the museum gave them a fresh perspective on the history of Kazakh culture, instilled pride in the country’s artistic heritage, and inspired further creative development.
Such events play a crucial role in educational work: they shape students’ aesthetic perception, strengthen patriotic feelings, develop critical thinking, and increase interest in national and global cultural values.
